Global Banking News - 07 September 2010(c)2005 - Electronic News Publishing -

The central bank of Japan has refrained from making changes to its interest rates.

Policy makers of the bank voted to keep interest rate at 0.1 per cent, where it has been since December 2008. Acknowledging moderate growth in the economy, the bank was however cautious about the effects of the global economy on Japan.

In a statement the bank said, 'Against the backdrop of increased uncertainty about the future, especially for the U.S. economy, and associated instability in the foreign exchange and stock markets, attention should be paid to downside risks to Japan's economy.'
