-Investor group takes additional stake in Aeromexico.

Mexican airline operator Grupo Aeromexico, SAB de CV (BMV: AEROMEX) said that a group of Mexican investors led by Eduardo Tricio and Valentin Diez-Morodo has acquired an additional 20.19% stake in Aeromexico.

The stake was previously owned by an affiliate of Mexican financial services firm Banco Nacional de Mexico SA (Banamex).

According to Aeromexico, the group of investors is comprised of Aeromexico's shareholders who had participated in the 2007 initial purchase of the airline and who have since remained invested in the company.

Through this transaction, Tricio will be the only board member to own more than 10% of Aeromexico's outstanding shares. Banamex will continue to maintain a 17.91% stake in the company.

Eduardo Tricio will be named chairman of Aeromexico's board of directors, while Valentin Diez-Morodo will be named vice-chairman. Andres Conesa will remain as the company's CEO.

Tricio is currently chairman of Grupo LALA's board of directors.

Aeromexico has a fleet of Boeing (NYSE: BA) 777, 767, 737 and the latest models of Embraer (NYSE: ERJ) 145, 170 and 190. As of 2011, an expansion plan began that includes the incorporation of 20 new planes and properties over the next 24 months.

In 2012, Aeromexico announced that it signed a letter of intent to purchase 100 Boeing aircraft, 90 Boeing 737 MAX and 10 Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, making it the largest investment program in Mexican aviation history.
