Travel Business Review - 29 November 2012

Historic Bethlehem is offering a range of holiday options for those looking to visit the city during this coming festive period.

On offer are walking tours by candlelight, horse-drawn carriage rides, or a night ride to the Bethlehem Star. These attractions will be available for travellers to savour at the Christmas City during the Christmas season. There will also be tours, events and museum experiences that tourists can select from.

With so many special holiday season offerings, travellers can mix and match the experiences according to their own tastes.

Some of the offerings include:

A Christmas City Stroll that allows travellers to wander through the ancient streets on a candlelit walking tour. The tour will explain the phenomenon of a candle-in-every-window, and will also highlight the story behind the Bethlehem Star.

The opportunity to learn about the rise and fall of Bethlehem Steel through a walking programme that teaches travellers how blast furnaces worked, and why men needed a brass check to enter the gates of Bethlehem Steel. The holiday season tour will include facts about life as a steel worker.

A horse-drawn carriage ride allows tourists to unwind and enjoy the beauty of Bethlehem and downtown Bethlehem. Two carriages will be made available for tourists at weekends, to accommodate the high demand.

Those preferring to take a bus can opt for the Bethlehem By Night Bus Tour, which takes travellers to the holiday lights and historic sites on a tour through North and South Bethlehem. They will also be offered a ride up to the star on South Mountain.

The Moravian Museum of Bethlehem is also putting on a display that allows tourists to experience Bethlehem when it was founded in 1741. Travellers can visit the oldest building in the city through the programme.

Shopping is also available at the 1750 Smithy with Colonial Gift Shop.
