Gulfsands Petroleum PLC (GPX.LN), an oil and gas production, exploration and development company, has halted the Khurbet East 101 appraisal well.

The company has taken this step because of potential future oil production at the well, following a drill-stem test, which achieved a potentially commercial stabilised flow rate of 447 barrels of oil per day, of 34 deg API oil from the Triassic aged Butmah Formation reservoir.

The firm was planning to drill the well to a total depth of 3,200 metres.
