A German banking watchdog has said that the Libor is still amenable to manipulations.

BaFin on Tuesday warned that the process for setting Libor and Euribor could be manipulated. This, Bafin observed, is in spite of the introduction of certain security standards.

Bafin President Elke Koenig said, 'In the mid-term, there is no way around establishing alternatives [for calculating Libor, Euribor] which are, as far as possible, based on actual transactions in liquid markets.'
