Global Banking News - 13 November 2013

James Day, the former EMEA Securities Lending head at Swiss banking group UBS AG (NYSE: UBS) (ZHR: UBSN) (UBSN.VX), is set to join BNY Mellon (NYSE: BK), Global Investor magazine has reported, citing sources.

According to the report, Day is expected to take up a European head of securities lending position, based in London, reporting to James Slater, global head of securities lending and finance.

The GI magazine reported in September that Day had left UBS where he was head of securities lending trading EMEA, and global head of securities lending and borrowing sales and marketing. He was also a board member of the International Securities Lending Association.

Day has previously worked in equity finance at Barclays Capital (LSE: BARC) (NYSE: BCS) for more than 12 years, latterly as head of equity execution EMEA. He was also head of equity finance at Daiwa Securities (TYO: 8601) (FRA: 8601) and worked as a securities lending trader at Nomura (NYSE: NMR) (TYO: 8604) (AMS: 8604) for eight years.
