Ford Motors Company (NYSE: F), a United States-based automaker, is investing USD1.3bn at its stamping and assembly plant in Hermosillo, Mexico.

The facility is to produce the new 2013 Ford Fusion and Lincoln MKZ midsize sedans. The investment will help change the stamping and assembly plant and also create 1,000 new direct jobs in the state of Sonora, Mexico.

Ford president of The Americas, Mark Fields, said, 'The midsize sedan market is significant, growing and one of the most competitive in the industry. With our all-new Fusion and Lincoln MKZ line-ups, we have the fuel economy, quality, technology and vehicle choices to win customers like never before.'
