Travel Business Review - 27 September 2012

Flybe, a UK-based airline company, is terminating the route between its Exeter base and Leeds Bradford airport at the end of this month.

The airline is currently operating a four times-weekly service from Exeter to Leeds, using Bombardier Dash 8 Q400 aircraft. This will run until September 30, 2012. Earlier this year, the airline terminated its flights between Gatwick and Leeds.

The airline is, however, offering a 25% savings on its winter seat sale on popular routes including key destinations such as Belfast City, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Exeter, Glasgow, London Gatwick, Manchester, Newcastle, the Channel Islands, Isle of Man and Southampton.

For its summer season in 2013, the company is offering two new routes from Exeter in UK; a twice weekly service to both Barcelona, in Spain, and Nice, in France. The services commence from March 31, 2013, and one way fares commence from GBP44.99 to Nice and GBP59.99 to Barcelona.

Commenting on the new routes, Simon Lilley, the airline director of marketing, said, 'With this quite significant expansion of summer sun options we are delighted to now offer South West travellers the opportunity to travel to Barcelona from Exeter for the first time ever.

We fully expect both this brand new destination and our new route to Nice on the magnificent French Riviera to prove hugely popular. In further committing to 'Making flying better' for our passengers, we have also actioned the obvious demand for more flights to four of our most popular existing sun routes by adding to them another four return flights every week in total.

With passengers able to enjoy the comfortable seating offered by our 118-seat Embraer 195 jet aircraft, this announcement further reinforces Flybe's commitment to bringing convenient, affordable travel to the South West and reaffirms our position as Exeter's number one airline.

Flights are available for booking now and we'd urge travellers to book early so they don't miss out on the lowest possible fares.'
