22 September 2010 - Finnish paper maker UPM-Kymmene Oyj (HEL: UPM1V) said yesterday that it and home-based company CSC IT Center for Science Ltd will set up an eco-efficient data centre in Kajaani, northern Finland.
Construction work is due to start this autumn and to be completed in early 2012.
The centre will be located on UPM's former paper mill site which was turned to Renforsin Ranta business park in 2008. It will provide environment for supercomputers, data storage and other demanding IT systems.
UPM and CSC expect that besides CSC, other companies will also use the data centre's facilities. Currently, the business park houses 25 companies which have more than 500 employees.
