28 March 2012 - Dubai-based lender Emirates NBD said on Wednesday it had named Jamal bin Ghalaita CEO of Dubai Bank, an Islamic lender it acquired in late 2011 after the government stepped in to rescue the bank from collapse.

Ghalaita is currently chief executive of another subsidiary of NBD, Emirates Islamic Bank.

NBD, which is Dubai's largest bank, said the move was within its plan to consolidate the management team of the two subsidiaries.

In addition, Emirates NBD has named Douwe Oppedijk advisor to the newly-appointed CEO. Prior to his new role, Oppedijk was interim CEO of Dubai Bank.
