19 December 2011 -- Danish largest lender Danske Bank A/S (CPH:DANSKE) announced today it had appointed its board chairman Eivind Kolding to serve as its new CEO from 15 February 2012.

Kolding, 52, will take the place of Peter Straarup who is retiring.

Kolding has served as board chairman of Danske Bank from March 2011 after joining the bank's board in 2001.

He is top executive of shipping firm Maersk Line, owned by AP Moller-Maersk, the biggest stockholder of Danske Bank.
