Singapore's DBS Group Limited (D05.SG) (OTC: DBSDY) has said that it has named Lawrence Lua, a managing director and senior adviser at Julius Baer (BAER: ZHR), as the head of its Southeast Asian private banking operations, effective April 1, 2011, reports Dow Jones.

In his new role, Lua will oversee over 100 employees from Singapore-based private banking teams for Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and the Philippines, as well as their support staff, DBS said. He will report to Tan Su Shan, group head of wealth management, DBS Bank.

Previously, Lua was a managing director of investments in Southeast Asia at Merrill Lynch (NYSE: MER).
