5 December 2011 -- Caisse des Depots is negotiating the purchase of a stake in real estate specialist Silic (EPA:SIL) from insurer Groupama, the French state-run lender said, quoted by Reuters.

Thus, the bank has confirmed previous reports that it is in talks to buy into the company. It said, however, that it had not sealed a deal yet.

Caisse des Depots' unit Icade (EPA:ICAD) and CNP Assurances (EPA:CNP), in which the lender owns 40%, are also reportedly part of the negotiations.

The bank said a potential transaction would involve a share exchange with Icade.

Groupama is aiming to shed its 44% stake in Silic for EUR800m (USD1.07bn).
