Towerstream (NASDAQ: TWER) said it will provide high-speed wireless broadband connectivity to the 48th Annual Head Of The Charles Regatta, taking place October 20-21 on Boston's Charles River.
"The Head Of The Charles attracts more than 300,000 spectators cheering on the 9,000 athletes participating in 55 race events each year," said Fred Schoch, the Regatta's Executive director."Because of the size and scale of our event, we really have to rely on a powerful and responsive Internet connection. Partnering with Towerstream to ensure seamless connectivity was an easy choice for us. The Regatta is a world class event, and we need an Internet connection delivering on that standard."
Towerstream's wireless broadband connectivity will be used by the Regatta operations staff to support the event's crucial race-timing system. The broadband connectivity will allow the system to not only track each split station times and supply accurate results in real time, it is also used by participants to measure outcomes, organize award presentations and communicate effectively along the three mile course. Additionally, sponsors and vendors will use the connectivity for promotions and sales opportunities.
