Global Banking News - 09 September 2011

Bankia SA (BKIA.MC), Spain's third-largest bank by assets, is set to join Spain's IBEX-35 stock market index on October 3, Dow Jones has reported, citing a statement by the technical advisory committee of the index.

Bankia will replace renewable energy company Iberdrola Renovables SA (IBR.MC), which was de-listed by its parent company Iberdrola SA (IBE.MC) earlier this year. The IBEX-35 index includes shares of the largest companies in Spain, including Telefonica SA (NYSE: TEF) and Banco Santander SA (NYSE: STD) (SAN.MC).

Bankia raised EUR3.1bn in its initial public offering in mid-July.
