Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ, a unit of Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group Inc (MUFG)(NYSE: MTU)(TYO: 8306)(8306.MU) is planning to issue subordinated straight bonds locally for retail investors, the Nikkei has reported.
The bonds, which carry maturities of up to 10 years, can be redeemed from the sixth year and beyond. The bank will issue JPY110bn worth of the bonds.
The bank has hired Mitsubishi UFJ Morgan Stanley Securities Company, a brokerage joint venture between Mitsubishi UFJ and Morgan Stanley (NYSE: MS) as the lead underwriter for the issuance. The bank is expected to decide the terms for the bond issue on February 3.
