The Bank of Japan (BOJ) has decided to keep the bank's unsecured overnight call loan rate target unchanged in a range of 0.0 to 0.1 percent on Thursday.

The Japanese central bank's policy board said that it would increase the size of the asset-purchase programme, which also includes low-cost loans, to JPY55tn from the previous JPY50tn. The JPY5tn increase will comprise of purchases of Japanese government bonds.

'The bank deemed this necessary to further enhance monetary easing so as to ensure a successful transition to a sustainable growth path with price stability,' the central bank said.
