BNY Mellon (NYSE: BK) has named Jorge Garay as general manager of BNY Mellon in Mexico and manager of the company's corporate trust business in Mexico.
In his new role based in Mexico City, Garay will oversee the company's expansion and will be responsible for operations, client service delivery and general management of BNY Mellon Corporate Trust in Mexico. He will report to Sonia Chaliha, managing director of the Global Americas region for BNY Mellon Corporate Trust. Most recently, he worked at Banco Santander (Mexico) (SAN.MC) (NYSE: STD), where he was head of the Trust Division, and at ABN AMRO Bank (Mexico) (OTC: ABNYY), HSBC Bank (Mexico) (LSE: HSBA) (NYSE: HBC) (HKG: 0005) and Banorte.
BNY Mellon Corporate Trust has also named Jose Elias Sahab to its Global America sales team as head of Sales, Mexico and Colombia. In his new role based in Mexico City, Sahab will be responsible for developing the firm's debt capital markets business throughout the region. He will report to Erin Courcey, managing director and head of sales for Canada and Latin America at BNY Mellon Corporate Trust. Previously, Sahab worked at Petroleos Mexicanos (PEMEX), where he was general counsel of Finance, and was earlier chief of staff at the Ministry of Public Control.
