NORDIC BUSINESS REPORT-April 20, 2011--Autoliv profit, sales surge in Q1 2011(C)2011 M2 COMMUNICATIONS

20 April 2011 - Swedish car-safety products maker Autoliv Inc (STO: ALIV SDB) said today its pretax profit increased 34% year-on-year to USD239.8m in the first quarter of 2011 as sales grew 23% to USD2.109bn.

This was largely in line with the market consensus, according to an analyst poll by news agency Reuters.

Organic sales growth was 14%, outperforming Autoliv's own expectations of 10%. The registered organic growth was also substantially higher than the 5% rise in global light vehicle production.

Autoliv's operating profit landed at USD254.8m, up by 30% from the first quarter of 2010.

The bottom line also showed strong growth as net profit surged 42% year-on-year to USD182.5m in January-March 2011.
