 TRIMARK PICTURES ANNOUNCES ACQUISITION
OF WORLDWIDE DISTRIBUTION RIGHTS TO 'DEADFALL'
$10 Million Thriller Stars Michael Biehn,
Nicholas Cage, Sarah Trigger and James Coburn
SANTA MONICA, Calif., Sept. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Trimark Pictures has announced acquisition of worldwide rights to the motion picture "Deadfall," starring Michael Biehn ("Terminator 2," "Aliens"), Nicholas Cage ("Honeymoon in Vegas," "Moonstruck"), Sarah Trigger ("Grand Canyon," "Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure") and James Coburn ("Young Guns II," "The Magnificent Seven"), with a supporting cast of Charlie Sheen, Talia Shire and Peter Fonda. Current plans call for a domestic theatrical release by Trimark Pictures in the second quarter of 1993.
Budgeted at more than $10 million, "Deadfall" is being produced by Ted Fox for Ted Fox Productions, directed by Christopher Coppola, with screenplay by Christopher Coppola and Nick Vallelonga. The film is being executive produced by Gerson and Gertrude Fox.
Roger Burlage, president and chief executive officer of Trimark Pictures, said, "The superb quality of the actors associated with this film, combined with the terrific script written by Mr. Coppola and Mr. Vallenlonga, make this a film Trimark is eager to distribute in both the domestic and international markets."
"Deadfall" is the story of a young con-man (Biehn) who accidentally kills his father (Coburn) during an elaborate sting that goes wrong. Before dying, his father tells him to search for an uncle he never knew existed. After finding his uncle, who is also a con-man and his father's twin (Coburn), he joins him in a con that is supposed to end with the uncle's phony death. Because of the prior death of his father, however, the young man freezes during the con and the uncle gets killed for real. Only after the uncle's death does he learn that his father is still alive and, in fact, masterminded the death of his uncle.
Trimark Pictures plans to release six-eight pictures theatrically during this next year in the United States. In the first quarter of 1993, Trimark Pictures currently is scheduled to release several films, including the horror film "Leprechaun," starring Warwick Davis ("Willow"); "S.I.S.," the controversial film based on the secret investigative section of the Los Angeles Police Department and starring Lou Diamond Phillips and Scott Glenn; "Warlock: The Armageddon," starring Julian Sands; and "Star Fire," the science fiction extravaganza starring Charlton Heston, Jack Palance and Tim Matheson.
