(UPDATE) ECONOMY -Turkey March capacity utilization rate up at 73.2 pct.

ANKARA, Mar 25, 2011 (TUR) -- Turkey's capacity utilization rate in manufacturing industry rose 5.9 percentage points year-on-year and 0.2 point from a month earlier to 73.2 percent in March, Central Bank announced on Friday.

These statistics were result of a Central Bank poll that surveyed 1946 workplaces active in manufacturing industry.

The capacity utilization rate was 67.3 percent in March 2010, and 73 percent in February 2011.

When compared with March 2010, capacity utilization rate increased in all main industry groupings --which includes durable and non-durable consumer goods, consumer goods, intermediate goods, investment goods-- except for food and beverages in March 2011.

It rose 7.3 percentage points and came to 73 percent in durable consumer goods, 1.4 percentage points to 70.6 percent in non-durable consumer goods, 2.4 percentage points to 71 percent in consumer goods, 4.7 percentage points to 76.6 percent in intermediate goods, and 7.1 percentage points to 72.4 percent in investment goods.

Capacity utilization rate dropped 0.3 percentage points to 67 percent in food and beverages.
