(SPO) WORLD TABLE TENNIS PROS COMPETE OVER BOSPHORUS.

ISTANBUL, Jul 27, 2009 (TUR) -- The Bosphorus bridge over Istanbul Strait, which unite the continents of Europe and Asia, hosted a table tennis show match between former world champion Austrian Werner Schlager and Hong Kong's top-player Chinese KO Lai Chak.

The show match brought together Sunday former World Champion Schlager and Olympic silver medal winner Ko, right in the middle of the Bosphorus Bridge in the glamorous opening of "Euro-Asia All Stars Series" which will be hosted in Istanbul on November 10-11.

The Bosphorus Bridge was partially closed to the traffic for half an hour to allow the special exhibition between table tennis players representing the two continents.

The show match which was organised for the promotion of "Euro-Asia All Stars Series?, brought together senior table tennis officials.

European Table Tennis Union President Stefano Bosi said "Istanbul is a magical city. I believe this organization will bring a momentum to the table tennis sport."

Schlager said he attended a similar organization in Brazil and the one in Istanbul had been much better.
