(GEN) PROF. DEMIR TO CHAIR OSYM BY PROXY.

ANKARA, Sep 22, 2010 (TUR) -- Prof. Ali Demir from Istanbul Technical University (ITU) will chair the Student Selection & Placement Center (OSYM) by proxy.

Higher Board of Education (YOK) stated on Wednesday that following the resignation of OSYM Chairman Prof. Unal Yarimagan on Tuesday, ITU lecturer Prof. Demir was appointed to the post by proxy.

YOK noted that OSYM would announce examination timetable of 2010 as soon as possible.

Prof. Demir was graduated from ITU Mechanical Engineering Department, and worked as Director of Institute of Science in ITU. He received his doctorate in Loughborough Technology University in England.

Prof. Yarimagan resigned from his post on Tuesday following the investigation into a wide cheating in Public Personnel Selection Exam (KPSS).
