(GEN) ENERGY MINISTER RELEASED FROM HOSPITAL AFTER TREATMENT.

KAYSERI, Apr 19, 2010 (TUR) -- The Turkish energy minister, who was hospitalized after being attacked by an assailant in central Anatolian province of Kayseri on Monday, has been released from hospital after receiving treatment.

Turkish Energy Minister Taner Yildiz was punched by an assailant in the face at the funeral of lieutenant Levent Cetinkaya, who lost his life at Gulhane Military Hospital in Ankara after getting heavily wounded in a recent armed attack in the southeastern province of Sirnak.

After the incident, the assailant was detained and Yildiz was taken to Erciyes University Hospital for treatment.

Commenting on the minister's state of health, the hospital's Chief Doctor Professor Muhammet Guven said a small scar on Yildiz's nose was stitched, his bleeding was taken under control and a small fracture was detected on his nasal bone.

Guven said the minister received the necessary treatment and he was released afterwards.

Upon receiving his initial treatment, Minister Yildiz, accompanied by Interior Minister Besir Atalay, departed from Kayseri for Ankara.
