(ECO) U.S. TREASURY SECRETARY DUE TO TURKEY.

WASHINGTON D.C., Sep 16, 2009 (TUR) -- The U.S. secretary of Treasury will visit Turkey in October, his office said on Wednesday.

U.S. Department of the Treasury released a statement and said U.S. Secretary of Treasury Timothy Geithner would travel to Istanbul at the beginning of October.

Geithner will participate in the finance ministers and central bank governors meeting of G-7 countries and annual meetings of IMF-World Bank in Istanbul.

The G-7 meeting will be on October 3, and the annual meeting of IMF-World Bank will take place on October 4-5.

Geithner is expected to hold a press conference after the G-7 summit on October 3.

The G-7 summit will focus on global economy and stability of financial markets.
