(ECO) TURKISH JOINT VENTURE TO BUILD FIVE HOSPITALS IN IRAQ.

ISTANBUL, May 15, 2009 (TUR) -- Universal-Acarsan, a Turkish joint venture of Universal Hospitals Group and Acarsan, will build five hospitals in different parts of Iraq, the company said in a statement on Thursday.

Universal-Acarsan said it signed a deal with Iraqi Health Ministry in December and will break ground for the first hospital in Kerbela on Friday. Iraqi Health Minister Salih al-Hasnawi will take part at the groundbreaking ceremony, the company said.

Hospitals will be built in Iraqi provinces of Kerbela, Basra, Hillah, Missan and Theyqar-Al Nasriya. Each hospital will have a capacity of 400 beds.

Universal-Acarsan said total cost of hospitals would be around 750 million USD. The company plans to complete the project in two years.
