(ECO) TURKEY TO CALL FOR BIDS TO COMPLETE POWER GRID PRIVATIZATION.
In last week's first phase of power grid privatization, Turkish consortiums made total bids of $5.7 billion in privatization tenders to operate country's four grids, including country's largest, Bogazici in Istanbul's European side. Other three grids were Gediz in Turkey's third largest city Izmir, Trakya in western Turkey and Dicle in southeastern Turkey.
TEDAS is set to call for tenders for three other grids --Akdeniz (Antalya, Burdur, Isparta provinces), Toroslar (Gaziantep, Hatay, Mersin, Osmaniye, Adana, Kilis provinces) and Istanbul Anadolu (the Asian side of Istanbul)-- to finalize privatization of its entire electricity distribution network by the end of November.
