(ECO) TURKEY'S TOURISM REVENUE EXPECTED TO REACH $22.5 BLN IN 2010.

ANKARA, Nov 22, 2010 (TUR) -- Tourism revenue of Turkey is expected to reach 22.5 billion U.S. dollars in 2010.

According to the data included in 2011 program of State Planning Organization (DPT), the total value of tourism to Turkey is projected as 23.8 billion U.S. dollars for 2011.

The number of jobs supported by the tourism sector in Turkey was nearly 3.6 million in 2009, the World Tourism Organization said.

In 2009, the number of tourists visiting Turkey was 27.1 million and tourism revenue was 21.2 billion U.S. dollars.

56.5 percent of foreign tourists visiting Turkey came from OECD countries and 20.2 percent was from Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) countries last year. Germany again topped the list among countries sending tourists to Turkey.
