(ECO) RATE OF EXCHANGE CRUCIAL FOR EXPORTS & IMPORTS, CAGLAYAN SAYS.

ANKARA, Jan 17, 2011 (TUR) -- Turkish State Minister Zafer Caglayan said Monday that the rate of exchange was crucial for exports and imports.

Speaking to reporters in Ankara, Caglayan said that the issue of the rate of exchange was the mother of all negative developments.

A low rate of exchange is the mother of all evil both in exports and in imports, Caglayan said.

In regard to Turkey's exports in the new year 2011, Caglayan said that the government's aim was to surpass the exports made in 2008 that totalled 132 billion USD.

In reference to the Foreign Trade Expectation Survey published on Monday, Minister Caglayan said that the exports expectancy index increased by 11.4 points and went up to 122.7 while the imports expectancy index rose 0.6 points to 113.7 points.
