(ECO) RATE OF DECLINE IN AUTO EXPORTS SLOWS DOWN.

BURSA, Oct 7, 2009 (TUR) -- The rate of decline in Turkey's auto exports continued to slow down in September which recorded the lowest year-on-year decline in 2009 with 24.4 percent.

Turkey's auto exports dropped 43 percent down to USD 10.9 billion in the first three quarters of 2009, revealed a year-on-year comparison based on Uludag Exporters' Union(UIB) figures.

The slowing down in the rate of decline which first appeared in July with 34 pc, and continued with 31 pc in June and 29 pc in August, hit the bottom with 24 pc in September.

The rise in exports to distant and neighbouring countries accounted for the slow down in the rate of decline.

Turkey's exports to U.S rose by 136 pc, exports to Iraq rose by 59 pc, exports to Afghanistan rose by 602, exports to Canada rose by 507 pc and exports to Argentina rose by 112 pc. Exports to EU countries continued to fall.
