(ECO) NUMBER OF TOURISTS VISITING ANTALYA EXCEEDS 9 MILLION.

ANTALYA, Nov 1, 2010 (TUR) -- Number of tourists who have visited southern province of Antalya since the beginning of 2010 exceeded 9 million.

According to data by Culture & Tourism Provincial Directorate, a total of 975,294 tourists arrived in Antalya by planes last month.

The number of tourists increased by 11 percent annually when compared to the figures of last year.

Antalya Culture & Tourism Director Ibrahim Acar told A.A correspondent on Monday, "the figures are positive. We hope to reach our target to host 10 million tourists this year."

Acar said, "we will attend London tourism fair this month. The fair is very important for us as we are planning to increase the share in British market, which made a 35 percent increase last year."

Acar said Turkey and Antalya would be promoted at 100 fairs next year.
