[0] Banned Kinane set to miss out on Galileo ride in King George.

MICK KINANE was sensationally suspended at Leopardstown last night and-unless he wins an appeal-will miss the ride on dual Derby winner Galileo in the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Diamond Stakes on Saturday week, writes Michael Clower.

Kinane was given a two-day ban (July 27 and 28) for careless riding on Sophisticat in the Eircell Silver Flash Stakes. He plans to appeal.

Kinane's path was hopelessly blocked by a wall of three in front of him from the two- furlong marker. A gap opened on the rail just under a furlong out and he sent the 1-3 shot for it, but she was hanging a little and she bumped Maskaya as she made her move. Maskaya was knocked on to Yanni in the process.

Sophisticat, runner-up in the Queen Mary, was beaten a length by 12-1 shot Agnetha.

The stewards, with former senior steward Michael Osborne in the chair, allowed the result to stand, but called in Kinane a second time after the next race and suspended him.

Stewards' secretary Michael O'Donoghue said: "We took into account his excellent record. He had had no suspension in Ireland this season or last, but we decided he was

shape of Storming Home. Plans for the three-year-old will not be confirmed until next week, but the race is "on the cards" according to connections.

The Barry Hills-trained colt finished fifth behind Galileo in the Vodafone Derby and gave an early boost to the Epsom form when winning over the King George course and distance in the King Edward VII Stakes at Royal Ascot.

Joe Mercer, racing manager to Storming Home's owner Maktoum Al Maktoum, said: ``It's on the cards. The horse is is good form, and a final decision will be made next week.''
