THE decision by judges to reduce Aaron Campbell's sentence by three years for the rape and murder of six-year-old Alesha MacPhail caused outrage online yesterday.

The 17-year-old killer claimed his 27-year tariff was "excessive" in an appeal against his jail term.

Record readers headed to our Facebook page to have their say.

Allison Lethem said: "Absolutely shocking. That family have to live with a life sentence and so should he."

Anne Temple added: "And what does Alesha's memory get, what do her parents get, what do her family and friends get? Nothing apart from more heartache. A disgrace."

Alistair MacDonald said: ". A little girl has lost the right to grow up and lead her life because of this animal. And yet his ability to 'mature' has been taken into consideration.

"What on earth was the judge thinking?" Cheryl Alexandrina added: "Totally disrespectful towards that little girl's family. Our justice system should be ashamed of itself."
