ROADWAY PACKAGE SYSTEM, INC. SELECTS MOON TOWNSHIP
 FOR NEW HEADQUARTERS STRUCTURE
PITTSBURGH, Nov. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Roadway Package System, Inc., has selected a Moon Township site as the location for its new corporate headquarters.
Groundbreaking will be in September 1993, with full occupancy expected by December 1995. The 118-acre site is located west of Montour Run Expressway between Hookstown Grade Road and Hirshinger Road.
"Our rapid growth since starting the company in 1985 and our outlook for the future led us to the conclusion that we needed to own our own property and building," said John P. Chandler, president of RPS. "We are currently in three rental buildings and are about to occupy a fourth. This land purchase gives us the space necessary to bring our entire corporate staff back together."
George W. Semich, chairman of the Moon Township board of supervisors said: "The Township of Moon is pleased and excited by Roadway Package System's decision to build its headquarters here. The board of supervisors' goals and objectives have been to attract and retain high- quality companies to our municipality. RPS's new headquarters is a model development for the area. On behalf of Moon Township, I extend a hearty welcome and thank you to RPS."
Chandler commented that in its search for a new site, RPS was committed to the Pittsburgh area. "We made a commitment to Pittsburgh when we began operations in 1985, and Pittsburgh has repaid RPS many times over," said Chandler. "It has provided us with a large pool of skilled workers and offers a quality living environment for our employees. We are pleased to be a part of the area's growth and look forward to our future as a vital member of the Pittsburgh community."
