NIELSEN DATA SHOWS COORS LIGHT THE CLEAR WINNER
LOS ANGELES, Sept. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Coors Light was proud to be California's suds during the summer of '93, according to Gary Styles, the Coors Western Region sales director.
Based on numbers released by Nielsen Wednesday, the "Silver Bullet" outperformed all major premium and light brands in California grocery store sales during the latest 12-week period ended Labor Day. The brand's volume grew 10.2 percent during the same period, according to Nielsen, and market share increased by 15.5 percent over last year. As a result, Coors Light stands firmly as the No. 1 light beer in California grocery stores this summer. Nielsen Marketing Research is a resource unit of A. C. Nielsen Co., and provides systematic measurement of sales in retail grocery outlets throughout the United States.
"Obviously, the rich, smooth taste of an ice-cold Coors Light hit the spot with California consumers this summer," said Styles. "The competition is fierce throughout the beer industry right now, and the performance of Coors Light in California and other key markets such as Texas and New York is very encouraging to Coors Brewing Company."
