/C O R R E C T I O N -- EQUITABLE COMPANIES/

In NY022, Equitable Companies Reports Financial Results, moved Nov. 8, we are advised by the company, that the 12th paragraph should read:
"The Equitable's investment businesses contributed $56.9 million in after-tax profits to the Company's overall results, an increase of 21.1 percent over the $47.0 million after-tax contribution for the third quarter of 1992. Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette, Inc., Equitable's investment banking arm, was the largest contributor to this growth with revenues and earnings at the firm rising 46.1 percent and 43.0 percent, respectively, compared with the year ago quarter" rather than "...revenues and earnings at the firm rising 46.1 percent and 14.9 percent..." as originally issued.
The company notes that the corrected DLJ amount does not affect The Equitable's previously reported results for the 1993 third quarter and nine months.
