ALAMO ANNOUNCES NATIONWIDE 'GREAT AMERICAN RATES' FOR SUMMER VACATION SEASON: COMPANY OFFERS UNIFORM RATES AVAILABLE AT EVERY U.S. LOCATION
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., May 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Alamo Rent A Car announced today that it will again offer "GREAT AMERICAN RATES" for the summer vacation season. Last year, the nation's largest independently owned and operated car rental firm introduced simple nationwide "GREAT AMERICAN RATES" for the U.S. summer vacation season -- with savings up to 60 percent over the previous summer's low car rental prices.
Effective April 26 through July 12, 1993, (except the periods of May 27-29 and July 1-3) cost-conscious consumers can rent an Alamo economy car for $19 per day, a mid-size car for $29 per day and a Cadillac for $39 per day -- all with unrestricted unlimited free mileage and valid at every Alamo location in the U.S. with no exceptions. Alamo currently serves 92 of the nation's most frequently traveled airports with on-airport counters in over 50 percent of them. Renters must be 25 years of age, reserve at least 24 hours in advance, carry a current, valid airline ticket, and keep the car over a Saturday night. Availability may be limited in certain cities.
Alamo's "GREAT AMERICAN RATES" for summer 1993 represent substantial savings over Alamo's current summer pricing on similar car models -- ranging from as much as 46 percent savings on an economy car in Boston, for example, to 27 percent savings on a mid-size car in San Francisco, to 44 percent savings on a Cadillac in Honolulu.
According to Don Moonjian, Alamo vice president of marketing, summer prices in the car rental industry typically move up about 15 percent to 20 percent over spring's levels, usually due to heightened consumer demand in the summer vacation season.
"Nonetheless, the key to cheaper consumer prices doesn't lie in season-to-season downturns. The real savings are in nationwide pricing that provides consumers with one unbeatable rate valid anywhere," Moonjian maintains. "Anytime you offer one rate across the country the consumer is going to be the big winner," said Moonjian. "Traditionally, sunbelt rates are cheaper than most, while midwest and northeast rates are more expensive. Basically, what we're doing is letting the entire country rent cars anywhere they want to at prices usually reserved only for Florida."
Alamo's "GREAT AMERICAN RATES" are still the industry's only legitimate nationwide rates because they are not hampered by "non- participating locations," franchises or licensees, are not restricted to airport locations only, and are available at every one of Alamo's 103 rental offices in the U.S. from coast to coast.
Reservations for "GREAT AMERICAN RATES" can be made through a professional travel agent or by calling 1-800-GO-ALAMO and requesting Plan "U.S." Current "GREAT AMERICAN RAGES" must be booked and cars picked up by July 21, 1993. "GREAT AMERICAN RATES" are fully commissionable to travel agents, with at least 10 percent commission on every booking. Alamo's "GREAT AMERICAN RATES" will appear in the "DRS" section of the automated systems. Availability may be limited.
The nation's largest independently owned and operated car rental firm, Alamo Rent A Car, Inc. currently serves over ten million customers annually in 38 states.
