| Silk Family Law is strengthening its Newcastle office with the appointment of solicitor CHRISTIAN BUTLER.
Newcastle University graduate Christian, who qualified as a lawyer two years ago, is the immediate past chair of the Junior Lawyers Division for Newcastle and the North East.
Barrister Ian Kennerley, who founded Silk Family Law five years ago with solicitors Kim Fellowes and Margaret Simpson, said: "Christian is a very talented young lawyer whose interests and skills in children's and financial matters will make him an invaluable member of our team."
The boutique practice, which also has a North Yorkshire office, was named Law Firm of the Year at the Northern Law Awards 2015 and received top-tier rankings for five consecutive years in both Legal 500 and Chambers UK.
Christian is press officer for Young Resolution North East - part of the national organisation whose members promote nonconfrontational approaches to divorce. Silk Family Law is the North East's largest specialist family law practice and is the only firm in the area to offer access to advice and representation from an in-house barrister on a range of family law issues. Since its launch in 2010, the firm has enjoyed year-on-year growth and currently has a team of 24 staff - including 12 experienced solicitors, chartered legal executives and legal assistants - with offices in Newcastle and North Yorkshire and consulting rooms in York, Leeds and London.
