 AT BAND'S TWO CASINOS
 Chief Executive Urges Recognition of
 President Bush's June 23rd Proclamation
 MILLE LACS INDIAN RESERVATION, Minn., Oct. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Marge Anderson, chief executive of the Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe Indians, owners of Grand Casino Mille Lacs and Grand Casino Hinckley, today announced that on Oct. 12, 1992, all casino personnel will be wearing "Year of the Indian" ribbons and buttons recognizing the proclamation signed by President Bush on June 23, 1992, commemorating this year as the "Year of the Indian."
 The president's proclamation firmly acknowledges "the significance of Native American cultures which thrived thousands of years prior to the arrival of European settlers; the innumerable contributions the native peoples made to help the early settlers' survive in a strange new land; the Native American Code Talkers of World War II, and all who distinguished themselves in service to the United States; the great athlete Jim Thorpe; our 31st vice president, Charles Curtis; their exemplary stewardship toward natural resources; the right of Indian tribes to exist as sovereign entities; and "gratefully salutes all American Indians, expressing our support for tribal self-determination and assisting with efforts to celebrate and preserve each tribe's unique cultural heritage."
