'What-if'western's on target.

SAM Shephard stars in this slow-burning but absorbing what-if? Western based on the idea Butch Cassidy survived the South American shootout in which he and Sundance supposedly died.

WNTHE ... Now raising horses in Bolivia under the name of James Blackthorn, the old coot picks up his six-shooter once again after meeting an BLACKTHORN 102mins 15 on-the-run thief (Eduardo Noriega), who's just stolen $50,000 from the owners of a mine.

While the film is full of silences, and it takes a while for things to get going, Blackthorn is never a bore, with the camera drinking in some stunning landscapes and Noriega being an amusingly irascible companion.
