'West Side Story' set to be staged.

YOUNG performers will showcase their talents as they take to the stage to perform the smash hit musical West Side Story this week.

The daily shows, which began last night, are being presented by the British School of Bahrain's Academy of Performing Arts and MASK (Music And Stage for Kids).

They will run at the school's campus in Hamala until Saturday.

Today and tomorrow's shows will be held at 7pm, with two shows held on Friday at 2pm and 7pm and the final performance on Saturday at 5pm.

West Side Story is an American musical with a book by Arthur Laurents, music by Leonard Bernstein, lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, and conception and choreography by Jerome Robbins.

It was inspired by William Shakespeare's play Romeo and Juliet.

The show will feature soaring vocal melodies, breathtaking dance routines and tear jerking dramatic scenes through its portrayal of the timeless love story of Romeo and Juliet.

Tickets cost BD6 and BD8 and are available at all Al Osra supermarket outlets and at the British School of Bahrain, Hamala.
