'WILDFIRE STARTER' SHOT DEAD BY COPS; Fear not, California Bush is here to help.
A MAN suspected of starting a blaze in fire-ravaged California was shot dead by police yesterday.
He was killed as President Bush flew over the region where at least 14 people have died and more than 1,400 homes were destroyed in the inferno that has raged since Sunday.
The suspect, aged 27, was gunned down at San Bernardino University after he rammed a police car in an area that had been evacuated.
Another man was arrested on suspicion of starting a fire in the city of Hesperia, 75 miles from LA.
President Bush and Governor of California Arnold Schwarzenegger took a helicopter tour over the blackened countryside.
Later, they met victims whose homes had been destroyed. Bush said it was a "sad situation" and promised federal aid.
