'WHY DIDN'T I THINK OF THAT?' -- NEW SERIES FROM THE SAMUEL GOLDWYN CO.
SEEKS AMERICA'S BEST HOME INVENTIONS FOR TV
LOS ANGELES, June 15 /PRNewswire/ -- They're out there in homes across America: amateur inventors of electric socks, automatic goldfish feeders, noise-free lawn mowers and absolutely 100 percent fool-proof mousetraps. Now Samuel Goldwyn Television is inviting these innovators to show the world their creations -- and compete for thousands of dollars in cash and prizes -- in "Why Didn't I Think of That?," a new weekly half-hour series premiering in September.
Wink Martindale and Bill Hillier, the creators and executive producers of the series, will hit the road this summer to scout out the wackiest inventions and inventors. Their tour will begin in July and initially take them to San Francisco, New York and Los Angeles, where they will meet with inventors, test out their creations and select the best for appearances on "Why Didn't I Think of That?"
Hosted by Wil Shriner ("Home Show" and Comedy Central), "Why Didn't I Think of That?" puts everyday people with extraordinary ideas into the spotlight. America's best home inventors are invited to go public with their unique, original, imaginative products -- however nutty or outrageous they may seem. If selected to appear on the series, inventors will demonstrate their creation before a live studio audience, see them tested by people in real-life situations, and compete against other ingenious innovators for cash and prizes.
Anyone with an invention who cannot attend the tour sites is invited to send a videotape of themselves demonstrating it, along with a brief biography and photo, to:
Why Didn't I Think of That?
 P.O. Box 4080
 Beverly Hills, CA 90213-4080
Or better yet, inventors may call 800-766-3507 for more information.
All inventions must be completely original and voluntary submitted for public display on television throughout the world.
Why Didn't I Think of That? was developed by Martindale/Hillier Productions in association with Samuel Goldwyn Television. The show is being offered on a barter basis with a three-and-half local/three-and-a- half national split. Twenty-six half-hours are planned.
