'WHAT HAPPENED?' TV SHOW TO FEATURE WORK OF FAILURE ANALYSIS ASSOCIATES
MENLO PARK, Calif., Sept. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Failure Analysis Associates Inc. (FaAA), an engineering and scientific services firm, announced that a new NBC television series will premiere on Friday, Sept. 25, at 8:30 p.m. Eastern and Pacific time, and 7:30 p.m. Central. "What Happened?" profiles some of the firm's technical investigations from its 25-year history.
The show will explore incidents such as the Rick Nelson plane crash, the Piper Alpha oil rig explosion in the North Sea, and the Hyatt Regency Hotel walkway collapse in Kansas City. Segments will document the actions of individuals involved in the accident or disasters, as well as the actual investigations done by FaAA scientists and engineers.
Failure Analysis Associates CEO Roger L. McCarthy noted, "The stories are undeniably compelling. In the last several years, others have wanted to do something like this, but Hearst Entertainment and NBC were the first to be sensitive to the high quality that must be inherent in any product associated with the firm. We have been really pleased with the previews of the show we have seen."
During a recent interview at the company, "What Happened?" host Ken Howard stated, "The work that they do at Failure Analysis is absolutely fascinating. There is an educational aspect to the show, and I think people will be interested to find out what really happened in these cases."
Many of the segments will feature state-of-the-art engineering animation, created by Failure Anaysis Associates and Spectus Technologies to demonstrate how or why the accident occurred.
Failure Analysis Associates, founded in 1967, is one of the nation's leading independent consulting firms dedicated to the investigation analysis and prevention of engineering and scientific failures. Failure Analysis Associates Inc. is a wholly owned subsidiary of The Failure Group Inc. (NASDAQ: FAIL), with offices in nine U.S. cities and representation in Europe, Canada and the Far East.
