'WE DON'T STRUT LIKE WELSH'.

ENGLAND insist they are brimming with self-confidence - but don't need to follow Wales' lead and make a show of it.

Warren Gatland has urged his side to play with a "strut in their stride" as they go for a record third straight Six Nations title.

The bookies make them 2/1 favourites to do so and centre Jamie Roberts says they will express themselves like champions today against Italy.

But when England flanker Tom Wood was told of Gatland's remarks, he said: "We're not about strutting.

"I don't really care how the Welsh walk, to be honest. We don't get caught up in any of that. Our confidence comes from within.

"We train very hard, we expect a lot from each other and we hold each other accountable. We don't have to give off any vibes. We have to look deep within and make sure we do the work.

"If you're doing the work you can be confident when you're out there on the field. We're getting to a place now where we can say we've got a lot of self-belief and a lot of confidence in the people around us.

"We relish the underdog status. It brings out the best in a lot of us because we've got that type of character within the squad."
