'ULTIMATE DRIVING CHALLENGE' ON CBS APRIL 23

NEW YORK, April 21 /PRNewswire/ -- As part of his promise to focus on healthcare, President Clinton calls our attention to a leading health concern often overlooked: automobile collisions. On Friday, April 23 on CBS, the President delivers a message of safety to viewers of "The Ultimate Driving Challenge." This special program features a 20-question interactive test which combines educational information with life-saving tactics taking viewers to challenging roadways all across America.
"The Ultimate Driving Challenge" program and a free booklet entitled "20 Smart Driving Tips" for both new and experienced drivers are part of an educational outreach effort by General Motors to encourage safe driving awareness. A crash occurs every seven seconds in the U.S. making automobile fatalities the number one killer of young adults. Each year, over 11 million automobile crashes result in 45,000 deaths, 540,000 injuries and $74 billion in health care costs. Police reports indicate that 90 percent are caused by driver error and could be avoided.
For a copy of the free safety booklet write to "20 Smart Driving Tips" P.O. Box 8500, Prospect Heights, Ill. 60070. "The Ultimate Driving Challenge" airs on CBS, Friday, April 23 at 9:00 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time.
