'The Inbetweeners' presents Greece as ideal place for sexy boozy break.
The movie, which smashed records at UK box offices taking 13.2 million pounds in its first week, featured four geeky teens, Will, Simon, Jay and Neil, on a boozy trip to Malia in Crete.
Some critics slated the 15-rated movie, saying it damaged the town's already bad reputation for heavy drinking and casual sex.
But Greek film fans said it makes their country look "ideal" for a boozy break.
"The filming did not take place in Greece but in Mallorca and other Spanish locations, but the film no doubt constitutes advertising for our country," the Sun quoted a reviewer for national paper Patris as writing.
"It presents Greece as an ideal place for summer holidays," the reviewer wrote.
However, not all Greeks were happy with the movie.
"Young British tourists see the Greek islands as places where anything goes, unlimited and cheap drink, easy sex, non-stop revelling. This film will only worsen the problem," Manolis Theodosoulis, chief of police in the Malia region, stated. (ANI)
