'TOOLKIT' HELPS EMPLOYERS COMPLY WITH ADA
PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif., July 21 /PRNewswire/ -- As The

Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) employment provisions go into effect July 26, surveys show most employers have not yet implemented workable ADA compliance programs. Often employer inaction is because of not knowing what to do to demonstrate compliance, or not having taken time to develop a compliance program.
A cost-effective solution that speeds compliance program development is now available. The ADA Administration Package contains tolls to develop, announce, administer and document a compliance program. It helps an employer document good-faith compliance efforts the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (the federal regulatory agency for the ADA) has said it will consider. And it helps prepare an employer to respond to the many complaints and lawsuits predicted under the ADA.
Priced at just under $300, The ADA Administration Package contains more than 45 separate items. It was developed by Marcia Haight of Haight Consulting, Pacific Palisades. Haight is a human resources consultant with more than 30 years' experience helping employers with emerging laws and concepts affecting employees.
The package provides policies and procedures, forms and records, communiques, training and resource suggestions, and advice and information. Purchasers can tailor the variable documents to their own organization and reproduce them. The ADA Administration Package is already in use by employers of all sizes, in virtually every industry group.
An example of how the package aids an employer is the items that apply to reasonable accommodation -- one of the key requirements of the ADA. An accommodation request form, a form for analyzing the request and form letters for agreeing to and declining the request help document the "transaction." An accommodation policy and procedure establish the framework for compliance. And an accommodation log permits easy access to accommodations over time -- for review by management and access in investigations.
