'THE NEXT GENERATION OF MUSIC STORES' DEBUTS IN PHILADELPHIA AREA; 'THE WALL' HOLDS GRAND OPENINGS IN 23 LOCATIONS

PHILADELPHIA, Sept. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Wee Three Records, the nation's seventh largest recorded music retailer and one of the fastest- growing, will introduce "the next generation of music stores," according to company President Peter Bamford, with the Sept. 11 and 12 grand openings of 23 "The Wall" record stores throughout the Philadelphia area.
Three of the stores are brand new; the remaining 20 previously operated under other Wee Three record store names and have been completely redesigned.
According to Bamford, the grand openings reflect not only Philadelphia-based Wee Three's commitment to growth in this region of the country, but also its commitment to customer satisfaction. Extensive customer research revealed what is important to customers, and this information was used as the basis for the design and layout of The Wall stores -- as well as their marketing and merchandising formats.
"Customers don't want to gamble that a new song they like on the radio will be the only song they'll like on a new album," Bamford said. "And they want record store employees who are helpful and knowledgeable. So, each Wall store provides customers with new audio and computer equipment that makes it easier than ever to choose the music they really want. And The Wall employees have been trained to be as helpful as possible. Our goal is to make sure every customer is completely satisfied with the CD or tape purchase they make."
 Listening Posts and "The Brain"
The help ensure satisfaction with customer purchases, every Wall store has installed Listening Posts. Each headphone-equipped post contains six new releases shoppers can preview before buying. Wall stores are equipped with from two to six Listening Posts, enabling shoppers to preview 12 to 36 new releases.
"The Brain," another Wall feature, is an interactive, computerized music resource that gives shoppers information on more than 100,000 artists and song and album titles. Information includes a complete list of singles on each album, release date, album reviews and more. Information can be accessed even if a shopper knows only one "key word" in the album or song title.
 Lifetime Music Guarantee
The Wall's Lifetime Music Guarantee answers another customer concern: "What happens if my tape or CD becomes damaged?" The guarantee states that if anything ever goes wrong with a CD or tape purchased at a Wall store, The Wall will replace it.
"Today's CDs don't scratch as easily as vinyl record albums," Bamford noted, "but they aren't indestructible. With The Wall's guarantee, our customers won't have to worry about their CDs -- or tapes -- warping or getting scratched, even after several years of use. All they have to do is bring their purchase back to The Wall with the guarantee sticker and we'll replace it. We're the only recorded music retailer to back up our sales with such a guarantee."
Additional store features include W-A-L-L radio, an in-store radio program recorded by local DJ Michael Tearson, and Wall Paper, The Wall's official publication that highlights new releases and features articles, artist interviews and concert information.
Wee Three Records is the Philadelphia area's largest recorded music retailer. The company has 170 record stores in the mid-Atlantic and northeastern United States.
