'THE LAST OF THE MOHICANS' SOUNDTRACK NOMINATED FOR 'GOLDEN GLOBE AWARD' FOR 'BEST ORIGINAL SCORE'

 LOS ANGELES, Jan. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- The acclaimed musical score to the blockbuster film "The Last of the Mohicans" composed by Randy Edelman and Trevor Jones, was nominated for a 1993 Hollywood Foreign Press Golden Globe Award for "Best Original Score." The soundtrack album, which has sold solidly since the movie's release, is currently bulleted on the Billboard "Top 200 chart." The "Last of the Mohicans" soundtrack is available worldwide on Morgan Creek Records.
 The music of "The Last of the Mohicans" has elicited much favorable notice both in the context of the movie and in its own right. Entertainment Weekly called it "a great musical score that can affect you on levels you aren't even aware of ... ( Mohicans') has one of the most powerful and enthralling soundtracks in years." Newsweek cited the film's "stirring score," and Buzz magazine notes its "haunting musical score."
 "The Last of the Mohicans," a romantic epic starring Daniel Day Lewis, Russell Means and Madeleine Stowe, is directed by Michael Mann, who produced the film along with Hunt Lowry. The executive producer is James G. Robinson. The screenplay is by Michael Mann and Christopher Crowe, based on a novel by James Fenimore Cooper.
 Jones' many film credits include "Excalibur," "True Colors," "Angel Heart," "Mississippi Burning" and "Dominick and Eugene." Randy Edelman contributed scores to such films as "Twins," "Kindergarten Cop," "My Cousin Vinny" and "Beethoven." He has also penned classic hits for the Carpenters, Barry Manilow, the Fifth Dimension and Blood, Sweat and Tears, and has released more than a dozen albums of his own internationally.
 In addition to the score by Jones and Edelman, the soundtrack also contains a song by the Irish band Clannad.
 To date, "The Last of the Mohicans" has grossed more than $100 million around the world.
